Obituary of Brad S. Freed

Brad S. Freed, the son of Donald J. Freed and Georgine (Johnson) Freed, was born February 17, 1953 at Belleville, KS and passed away on February 4, 2015 at Republic County Hospital, Belleville, KS at the age of 61 years, 10 months, and 18 days.
Brad grew up in Scandia, graduating from Scandia Rural High School. He then attended Ft. Hays State University, Hays, KS and later the School of Aviation at Greeley, CO, where he graduated and obtained his pilot’s license. He also trained in Wichita, KS and received his flight instructor license. Brad farmed for several years along with flight instruction and in recent years had worked at Reinke Mfg in Deshler and Nutra Shield in Courtland, KS.
On August 23, 1980, he was united in marriage to Danita Strait and to this union was born Kajsa and Kale.
Brad was a member of the American Legion of Scandia, KS. He enjoyed antique tractors, especially John Deere, Harley Davidson Motorcycles and airplanes.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Georgine Freed.
Brad is survived by one daughter Kajsa (Tommy) Sharples of Concordia, KS; one son, Kale Freed of Scandia, KS; and Danita Freed also of Scandia, KS;
One granddaughter: Karma Sharples; two brothers, Paul (Dianne) Osborn and Jim Osborn both of Wichita, KS; one sister, Kristine Ryan of Bradenton, FL; nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Cremation was selected and memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, Feb. 12, 2015 at the Bachelor-Surber Memorial Chapel, Belleville, KS with Pastor Mark Imel, officiating.
Inurnment will be at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, rural Courtland, KS.
Friends may call to sign the register book from 1PM until 5 PM on Wednesday, and from 9AM until 2:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.
