Obituary of Dana C. Johnson

Dana Charles Johnson of Republic, died Oct 19, 2012, at Belleville Health Care Center, at the age of 84 years. He was born Oct 17, 1928, on the family farm in Republic County. He was the son of Leslie Wilson and Nellie May (Ide) Johnson. He graduated from Republic High School with the class of 1946, and from Kansas State University with the class of 1951. He was married Aug 6, 1950 to Mary Agnes Stuber in Belleville. He served two years as Staff Sergeant with the US Army in Fort Leonard Wood, MO from 1952 through 1954. He was honorably discharged from the US Army Reserve in 1960.

The couple lived at the family homestead east of Republic, where Dana engaged in farming and worked as a tax practitioner. The couple has three children: Leslie Ann, Wayne, and Amy. He served in many roles at the Republic United Methodist Church, the Belleville Lodge 129, and the Gideons International Concordia Camp, and was a member of American Legion Post 233 in Republic. He retired from farming in 1995, and enjoyed many travels with his wife, friends, and family. He was a resident at the Health Care Center from May 2010 through the time of his death.

Dana was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters: Barbara Bailey, Lucille Johnson, and Arlene Kaeding. Survivors include his wife, Mary Agnes Johnson of the home, daughters Leslie Ann (Howard) Fogle of Plainville and Amy Adee of Lee’s Summit MO, and son Wayne (Kathy) Johnson of Wichita; 4 grandchildren: Christopher (Jill) Fogle, Amanda Bowers, Colby Johnson, and Jordan Adee; and 4 great-grandchildren: Shea and Shyla Bowers, Ryan and Molly Fogle.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012 at the Republic United Methodist Church, officiated by Pastor Roger Walls. Interment will be in Belleville City Cemetery with Masonic Graveside Rites by Belleville Masonic Lodge # 129. Memorials are suggested to the Church or Gideons International.

Visitation will be from One PM until 9 PM on Monday and from 9 AM until
9 PM on Tuesday at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home where the family will greet friends from 5PM until 7 PM on Tuesday.
