Obituary of Dean L. Cline
Dean Lopshire Cline, the son of Harry Edgar Cline and Mary Elizabeth (Barr) Cline, was born May 4, 1920 at rural New Cambria, KS and passed away on Feb. 7, 2014 at Mt. Joseph Senior Village, Concordia, KS at the age of 93 years, 9 months, and 3 days.
Dean moved with the family at an early age to Oakley, KS and later moved back to Mentor, KS where he completed his education. He farmed on the family farm for a time. He served with the U. S. Army Air Corps during W.W. II, serving in the Pacific Theatre from 1942 until his honorable discharge in 1945.
He then returned to the Gypsum, KS area, moving later to Salina, KS where he was an automobile mechanic for a car dealership. In 1951, he moved to Formoso, KS where he farmed for nearly 6 years. He then worked as a mechanic at the Jewell County Maintenance Shop and also did custom combining. He later formed a partnership with his son, Rodney, doing custom harvesting in the summers and fall from Oklahoma to the Canadian border until Dean’s retirement at the age of 82.
Dean was united in marriage to Velma L. Hill and to this union was born Leilani and Rodney.
Dean was a member of the American Legion, the Formoso Community Church where he was an Elder, and also served on the city council for the City of Formoso for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Velma in 2008, and 9 brothers.
Dean is survived by one daughter, Leilani (Jay) Dikkers and one son, Rodney (Sheila) Cline; one grandson Matthew Cline, and one sister Alice Fehr; other relatives and friends.
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014 at the Formoso Community Church, Formoso, KS with Pastor Gene Little, officiating.
Military Rites will be conducted by the Ft. Riley Military Honor Detachment,
Ft Riley, KS.
Inurnment will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, October 6, 2014 at the Woodlawn Cemetery, rural Gypsum, KS.
A time of remembrance will also be offered for Dean’s son-in-law: Jay F. Dikkers who passed away on June 14, 2014 and for Dean’s son: Rodney D. Cline who passed away on July 15, 2014 at the church memorial services.
Friends may call to sign the book at the Church prior to the services from One PM until 2 PM on Saturday.
Memorials are suggested to family choice.

Cremation was selected and memorial services will be held at the Formoso Community Church, Formoso, KS in the early spring.
Inurnment will be at the Woodlawn Cemetery, rural Gypsum, KS at a later date also.
