Obituary of Don L. Buchanan


Don L. Buchanan, son of Lewis R. Buchanan and Elda Mae (Allen) Buchanan was born April 28, 1941 at Ashland, Nebraska and passed away on February 17, 2015 at Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 73 years, 9 months and 19 days.
He moved to Belleville, Kansas in 1944. Attended Belleville Grade School and graduated from Belleville High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1976. He did basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and then went to Fort Story, Virginia. He spent seven years in Germany, one year at Fort Carson, Colorado and one year in Vietnam, four years at Fort Hood, Texas.
He was united in marriage to Barbara Horvath on January 19, 1983 at Round Rock, Texas. They moved to Manhattan KS. and then in 1989 moved to Belleville, KS., where he spent the rest of his life. He was a truck driver of 48 states most of his life and enjoyed it and his wife Barbara traveled with him. He enjoyed playing games on the computer and being with his family.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Elda Mae Buchanan, one brother, Richard L. (Buck) Buchanan.
Don will be greatly missed, but forever remembered by his wife, Barbara R.
Buchanan of Belleville, Ks., one daughter, Kimberly Baidas of Clyde, Texas, three grandchildren, two great grandchildren, one sister, Ronda (Ray) Davis of Edmond, Oklahoma, Nephew, MSGT Marc (Alisa) Davis of San Antonio, TX Niece, Cheryl Tallent of Wichita, KS., two sister in law, Linda Horvath of Lawrence, KS, Paula Buchanan of Fort Dodge, KS., Nieces, Melody Muth and daughter Ariel of Belleville, KS, April (Todd) Ludacka and their children, Harley, Halen of Belleville,KS., brother in law, Ed (Cherly) Glenn of Kansas City, MO.,Nieces, Heather (Brian) McFeely and son Riker of Overland Park, KS., Rachel Glenn of Kansas City, MO., Nephew, James Glenn of Kansas City, MO., other relatives and many friends.
Memorial services will be held Two PM, Saturday, February 28, 2015, Bachelor-Surber Memorial Chapel, Belleville, Ks, conducted by, Pastor Mark Imel.
Military graveside services by the Fort Riley Honor Guard.
Private Family Inurnment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Atwood, Kansas at a later date.
Memorials may be given to the Albert Isaacson-James Larsen-Robert Sjolander American Legion Post No 193 of Scandia, Ks
Friends may sign the register book on Friday, February 27, 2015 from 1 PM to 9 PM at Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, KS.
