Obituary of Dorothy L. Jackson

Dorothy Louise Jackson, the daughter of William A. Titmus and Lulu V. (Horkman) Titmus, was born July 19, 1918 at Pittsburgh, PA and passed away on February 13, 2012 at the Bethany Home, Lindsborg, KS at the age of 93 years, 6 months, and 24 days.
Dorothy grew up around the Stoney Point area near Norway, KS and attended the local public rural schools. Prior to her marriage, she worked as a house keeper in Belleville and Minneapolis. On March 24, 1940 she was united in marriage to Arthur N. Jackson and to this union was born: Myrna, Merle, Joyce, Alice, and Ray. She lived in the Kackley and Scandia area where she was a farm wife and homemaker. Dorothy later lived in Scandia before moving to Solomon, KS. For the last two and a half years she has made her home in Lindsborg, KS.
Dorothy was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Moose-Concordia, KS and attended the United Methodist Church in Scandia. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, and loved to cook. Dorothy also liked to garden and dance with Mr. Jackson and enjoyed playing the piano.
She was preceded in death by her parents William A. Titmus and Lula (Horkman) Titmus Ames, her husband Arthur N. Jackson on Oct. 1, 1987, a sister Ella Loomis and a brother Charles Ames.
Dorothy is survived by three sons: Merle Jackson and wife Jane of Wichita, KS, Joyce Jackson and wife Verlene of Chapman, KS, and Ray Jackson of Springfield, MO; two daughters: Myrna Ayotte and husband Joe of Salina, KS and Alice Mink and husband Tom of Lansing, KS; two sisters Cynthia Larson of Scandia, KS and Sadie Kenyon of Concordia, KS; 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, February 16, 2012 at the
Bachelor-Surber Memorial Chapel, Belleville, KS with Pastor Kathy Aeillo, officiating.
Interment will follow at the Riverview Cemetery, Scandia, KS. Visitation will be from 9AM until 9PM on Wednesday at the funeral home in Belleville. On Thursday from 12:30 PM-1:30 PM the family will greet friends prior to the services.
Memorials are suggested to the Scandia United Methodist Church.
