Obituary of Edythe L. Hammer

Edythe L. Hammer, 83, of Belleville, KS, passed away on October 23, 2014 at Belleville, KS.
Edythe L. Hammer, the daughter of Toley Troy Tallent and Vinna Belle (Fry) Tallent, was born Feb. 3, 1931 at rural Belleville, KS and passed away on October 23, 2014 at Belleville Healthcare Center, Belleville, KS at the age of 83 years, 8 months, and 20 days.
Edythe grew up and attended the local public schools of Belleville, graduating from Belleville High School.
Following her education, Edythe worked and lived in a variety of areas.
She moved to Columbus, NE where she worked at Dale Electronics, later moving to Lincoln, NE. She then worked at a meat packing plant and as a waitress in Clovis, New Mexico for a time. Edythe later moved to Tucson, AZ where she worked at Furr’s Cafeteria later moving to Wichita, KS. She then resided in West Covina, California for several years where she was a sales clerk at J. C. Penney’s and worked in an antique store. She retired and moved to Belleville, KS where she worked part-time at Duckwall’s.
She was united in marriage to Charles Boman and to this union was born Stephen, Reggie, Melanie, and Ronald. They were later divorced.
She was united in marriage to George F. (Mike) Hammer and they were later divorced.
Edythe was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary in Clovis, New Mexico.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Gerald, Dale, and Ron,
and son Reggie Boman.
Edythe is survived by two sons, Stephen Boman of Hermiston, Oregon and Ronald Kent Boman of Palm Springs, CA; one daughter, Melanie Beth Boman of Belleville, KS; Three Grandchildren, and 4 Great Grandchildren; one brother, Jerry Tallent of Chanute, KS; two sisters, Dorothy Alkire and Ruth Everhart both of Belleville, KS; nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Cremation was selected and friends may call to sign the register book from 1PM until 9PM on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home where the family will greet friends from 5PM until 7PM on Tuesday.
Family inurnment services will be held Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at the Belleville Cemetery, Belleville, KS.
