ELWIN FLOYD SCOFIELD

Elwin Floyd Scofield, 89, lifelong resident of Belleville, passed away at Republic County Hospital on Thursday, July 5, 2012. Visitation will be from One PM-Nine PM Saturday and Sunday at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, July 9, 2012 at the Belleville Cemetery, Belleville, KS. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Methodist Church or the Belleville City Airport.

Elwin was born on September 30, 1922 in Belleville to Percy Floyd and Julia Belle (Weaver) Scofield. He married the love of his life Ellen Levendofsky on August 7, 1946. Mr. Scofield was a third generation farmer, working the family farm along-side his wife for over 60 years. Elwin thoroughly enjoyed flying, playing pitch, his cattle, and gambling and dancing the night away with his bride. He was a member of the Methodist Church, Belleville Flying Club and also served on the School Board. Above all, he was a family man. His loving, caring, patient demeanor was enjoyed by all who knew and loved him.

Mr. Scofield was preceded in death by 3 brothers, 3 sisters, 1 son-in-law, 3 grandsons and 1 granddaughter.

He is survived by his adoring wife of 65 years, Ellen Scofield, of the home; 5 daughters, Carolyn Conwell of Salina, Sandra (Gary) Boman of Belleville, Jo Ann (Ken) Gurley of Santa Rosa, CA, Le Ann (Tim) Sankey of Salina and Charlotte Burton of Topeka; 2 sons Gary (Lori) Scofield of Belleville and Jayme Scofield of Salina; 1 brother, Max Scofield of Belleville; 12 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 10 step-great grandchildren; 2 step great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends

His tender love will be dearly missed and he will be in our hearts forever!
