Obituary of Eugene E. Fisher

Eugene E. Fisher, the son of Frank Fisher and Beulah (Kopsa) Fisher, was born November 30, 1923 in rural Cuba, KS and passed away on October 22, 2016 at the Republic County-Long Term Care, Belleville, KS at the age of 92 years, 10 months, and 22 days.
Eugene grew up in the Cuba, KS area, attending the Beebe Grade School, and later Cuba High School, graduating in 1942. Following his graduation, he assisted on farms and did farm work for several years. He then began working for Stone Construction in Belleville, KS where he eventually became co-owner, retiring in 1976 after over 40 years with the company.
On April 20, 1950, he was united in marriage to Melva J. Jakabosky and to this union was born two sons, Guy and Gary. The couple made their home in rural Cuba, before settling in Belleville, KS where they lived for many years.
Eugene was a Belleville City Councilman for several years, and served with the local Civil Defense.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Melva on October 15, 2004, son, Gary on November 29, 2015, and one brother, Vernon L. Fisher.
Eugene is survived by his son, Guy (Vickie) Fisher of Atlantic, Iowa; two grandsons, Matthew Fisher of Des Moines, Iowa and Daniel (Selma) Fisher of Sutton, England; one great granddaughter, Alexandra Fisher; one sister, Irene Richecky Saip of Enterprise, KS; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Friday, October 28, 2016 at the Bachelor-Surber Memorial Chapel, with Reverends Guy and Vickie Fisher, officiating.
Interment will be at the National Bohemian (Kopsa) Cemetery, rural Cuba, KS.
Friends may call from 1 PM until 9 PM on Wednesday and from 9 AM until 9 PM on Thursday at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, KS where the family will greet friends 6 PM until 8 PM Thursday.
