Obituary of Jack D. Scott


Jack Dennis Scott, the son of Chester M. Scott and Charlotte B. (Mason) Scott, was born September 25, 1945 at Bluffton, Indiana and passed away on April 3, 2014 at the Linn Community Nursing Home, Linn, KS at the age of 68 years, 6 months and 8 days.
After attending high school, Jack served with the U.S. Navy from July 19, 1963 until his honorable discharge on September 23, 1966. He attained the rank of E-4 and served on the USS Yorktown. He also was in the Naval Reserve until 1969.
Following his discharge, he accepted employment at the Washington Implement Company and later at Oregon Trail Equipment, Marysville, KS where he worked as a diesel mechanic for nearly 35 years. He made his home in rural Cuba, KS for 33 years and had recently moved to Belleville, KS.
He was a member of the Arbor Day Foundation, the National Wildlife Federation, and the AARP.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Lee and Tom.
He is survived by three sons, James C. Scott of Fayetteville, AR, Daniel B. Scott of Elkins, AR, and Lucas W. Scott of Salina, KS; two daughters, Ronda A. Copple of Clay Center, KS and Jennifer B. Brucker of Salina, KS; three sisters,
Linda D. Woods of Sunset, Utah, Darlene McIntire of North Webster, Indiana, and Barbara Savage of Council Bluffs, Iowa; one brother, John L. Scott of Kent, Washington; 10 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at the Belleville Cemetery, Belleville, KS with Pastor Keven Wood, officiating.
Interment will follow the services.
Military Graveside rites will be conducted by the U. S. Navy Honor Guard.
Friends may call from One PM until Nine PM on Tuesday at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, KS.
