Obituary of

LaVerne M. Lervold

LaVerne Martin Lervold, the son of Benjamin Martin Lervold and Esther (Hammer) Lervold, was born March 22, 1930 at Scandia, KS and passed away on August 29, 2011 at Wichita, KS at the age of 81 years, 5 months, and 7 days.
LaVerne grew up on a farm near Scandia and attended the rural schools of
Republic County and later graduated from Scandia High School. Following his schooling, he served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War for two years.
After his discharge, he returned to the area, attending and graduating from Kansas State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
LaVerne worked for Standard Oil in California for several years and then for
General Dynamic for a short time in Omaha, NE. He then began work with Boeing Military Aircraft at Wichita, KS where he worked as a mechanical engineer for 25 years until his retirement. LaVerne loved the outdoors along with camping and fishing.
On September 16, 1951, he was united in marriage to Carla Deane Reece and to this union was born Bruce, Carrie, and Susan. She preceded him in death in 1986. He later was united in marriage to Marjorie Osborn and the couple made their home in Wichita. She preceded him in death.
LaVerne was preceded in death by an infant son Bruce; wife Carla, and wife Marjorie, two brothers: Robert and Russell and one sister Norma.
He is survived by two daughters: Carrie Rancuret (Vince) of Danville, Illinois and Susan Huebert (Jeff) of Sedgwick, KS, four grandsons: Paul Rancuret (Sarah), Keith Rancuret (Emily), Matthew Huebert, and Jason Huebert; nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011 at the
Amana Lutheran Church, Scandia, KS with Pastor Delvin Strecker and Bishop Scott Jones, officiating.
Interment will be at the Riverview Cemetery, Scandia, KS.
Memorials are suggested to the Amana Lutheran Church.
