Obituary of Myrtle L. Thompson

Myrtle L. Thompson, the daughter of Samuel C. Chapman and Lillie (Myers) Chapman, was born February 20, 1920 at Belleville, KS and passed away on February 11, 2012 the Belleville Health Care Center, Belleville, KS at the age of 91 years, 11 months, and 21 days.
Myrtle attended the local public rural grade schools and later graduated from Belleville High School in 1936. On December 26, 1943, she was united in marriage to William Klima and to this union was born: Joy and Darrel. Mr. Klima preceded her in death on Feb. 24, 1967. On March 12, 1969, she was united in marriage to Max O. Thompson. The couple made their home in Belleville, KS and he preceded her in death on Nov. 6, 2006.
Myrtle was a homemaker and housewife, assisting with the farm. She enjoyed working with cattle and animals and also gardening. Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands William Klima and Max Thompson, four brothers: Daniel Chapman, James Chapman, Luman Chapman, and an infant brother; and two sisters Mary Chapman and Rachel Chapman.
She is survived by one daughter Joy Smith of Belleville, KS and one son Darrel Klima and his wife Marcia of Belleville, KS; five grandchildren: Rana Trost, Shawna Oliver, Rita Mudd, Kimberly Allison, and Justin Klima; 11 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at One Thirty PM Saturday, February 18, 2012 at the Bachelor-Surber Memorial Chapel with Pastor Mark McGregor, officiating. Interment will follow at the Belleville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9AM-9PM Thursday and Friday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to family choice.
