Obituary of Richard A. Larson

Richard Allen Larson, the son of George C. Larson and Ruby A. (Aspergren) Larson, was born June 6, 1937 at the family farm in rural Scandia, KS and passed away on April 19, 2018 at the family farm at the age of 80 years, 10 months, and 13 days.
Richard grew up in rural Scandia attending the local schools and graduating from Scandia High School. Richard was a farmer and stockman, working and living on the family farm for over 80 years.
On March 31, 1957, he was united in marriage to Mary Hanson and to this union was born: Kevin, Diane, Michael, and Brent. The couple had just celebrated 61 years of marriage.
Richard was a member of the Amana Lutheran Church and served on the School Board and was active in the community also, serving on several community boards through the years.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ruby Larson; brothers, Gene Larson, G. Donald Larson, and Harold Larson; sister, Helen (Larson) Sankey; and daughter-in-law, Katherine Larson.
Richard is survived by his wife Mary Larson of rural Scandia, KS; 3 sons,
Kevin (Michelle) Larson of Scandia, KS, Michael Larson of Scandia, KS, and
Brent (Melissa) Larson of Manhattan, KS; one daughter, Diane (Rob) Floersch of Clay Center, KS; 6 grandchildren: Dana (Kayla) Larson of Scandia, KS, Shanna (Nathan) Lindberg of Formoso, KS, Corbin Larson of Scandia, KS, Nathan Larson of Manhattan, KS, Kaylee Larson of Scandia, KS, and Richard Floersch of Lawrence, KS; 4 great grandchildren: Hudson & Harlow Lindberg, Brylee and Kinsley Larson; two brothers, Robert Larson and Larry Larson of Scandia, KS; one sister, Lorraine Chellberg of Topeka, KS, other relatives, and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 5, 2018 at the Amana Lutheran Church, Scandia, KS with PMA Al Urich, officiating.
A private family inurnment service will be held prior to the services at the Riverview Cemetery.
No visitation is planned at the funeral home. Friends may sign the register book prior to the services and greet the family after the services at the Church.
Memorials are suggested to Solomon Valley Hospice, Beloit, KS and Amana Lutheran Church.
