Ronald Eugene Lewis

Ronald Eugene Lewis, 77, of Topeka, KS passed away on December 17, 2013 at his home. He was born in Belleville, KS on August 20, 1936, to Orrin E. and Ruby (Lemon) Lewis. He graduated from Belleville High School in 1955. He loved cars and spent a season driving race cars for Joey Chitwood.

He made the military his career, serving in both the Army and the Air Force, retiring at the rank of TSgt. After his military service, his years in law enforcement included the University of Kansas, Sheriff’s Department in Seneca, KS and security for Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Topeka. Ron was an avid collector of Smith and Wesson items and was a member of the Smith and Wesson Collectors Association.

He married Barbara Cornwell on July 8, 1968 at Hebron, NE. He is survived by his Wife, sons, Rick of Elizabeth, CO and Sean of Topeka, KS; daughter, Mindy Lewis of Aurora, CO; granddaughters, Mallory, Shannon, and Alexandria; brother and sister-in-law, Dick and Pat Lewis of Lincoln, NE; stepsons, Don and Doug Disterheft; step granddaughter, Jessica. Other surviving family includes nieces, Melanie Tennyson, Cathy Colton, Sharon Alexander and Julie Schaefer; nephews Mike Voelzke, Randy Lewis, and Bob Lewis and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Marion, and brother-in-law, Ed Voelzke.

Graveside memorial services and inurnment will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014 at Belleville Cemetery, Belleville, KS.
Military graveside rites will be conducted by the McConnell Air Force Base Honor Guard, of Wichita, KS.
Friends may sign the book prior to the services at the graveside on Saturday.
