Obituary of Sharon L. Kalivoda:

Sharon Louise Woods Kalivoda was born June 12, 1939 in Colorado Springs, Colorado to Vernon and Velma (Louder) Woods. She passed quietly from this life on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at the Republic County Hospital in Belleville, Kansas after a battle with cancer.
Sharon was the oldest of three daughters, raised in Colorado and Kansas, graduating from Courtland High School with the class of 1957. In March of 1958 she married Garry Moravek of Munden. They lived on Army bases in Missouri, Texas and Georgia before settling in Kansas. Three girls were born to this union which was later dissolved. She worked as a clerk at Swoyer’s IGA in Highland and at Nondorf Grocery in Courtland. She was also a bookkeeper for Boettcher Fertilizer in Courtland and the former Belleview Manor in Belleville. She retired from the Republic County Treasurer’s Office in the fall of 2004.
On August 16, 1980 Sharon was united in marriage to Dewayne Kalivoda and lived on the family farm north of Cuba. She took great pleasure working with Dewayne on the farm and helping with the livestock. Throughout her life she enjoyed bowling, camping, gardening, polka dances, social time with friends and attending the many activities of her family.
Sharon was a member of the Courtland United Methodist Church, Western Fraternal Life – ZCBJ Czech Lodge of Munden, TOPS, Red Hat Society, American Legion Auxiliary in Concordia and Veterans Wives of Cuba serving as an officer in many of these organizations and was currently President of Veterans Wives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dewayne’s parents George and Helen Kalivoda, and sisters Peggy Richmond and Marilyn Sothers.
Sharon is survived by her husband Dewayne of the home; daughters Joanne (Joey) Welch of Wellington, Kansas; Cindy (Lynn) Moon of Burlingame, Kansas; Nancy (Craig) Clark of Beloit, Kansas; stepchildren Brad (Delorie) Kalivoda of Narka, Kansas and Carolina Weltner of Wichita, Kansas; brothers-in-law Maurice Sothers of Scandia, Kansas and Gary Richmond Sr. of Fountain, Colorado; 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Eleven AM, Friday, December 16, 2016 Bachelor-Surber Memorial Chapel, Belleville, Kansas conducted by Pastor Kathy Aeillo and Kathleen Marsicek. Interment will be in Tabor Cemetery, rural Munden, Kansas. Memorials may be given to the family’s choice.
Friends may call on Thursday from 1 PM to 8 PM at Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, Kansas.
