Obituary of Shirley L. Simmons

Shirley L. Simmons, daughter of Earl R. Henderson and Bessie J. (Arthur) Henderson was born October 3, 1928 at Concordia, Ks and passed away on July 24, 2013 at Inman, Ks at the age of 84 years, 9 months and 21 days.
Shirley attended Belleville Public Schools. She was united in marriage to Bennie A. Simmons on September 11, 1944 and this union two daughters and one son were born, Shirley Kay, Garith Eugene., Dee Anna Raye . Shirley was employed by J.C. Penny’s in Belleville for 20 years, the toy factory for 1 year and Western Auto Store for 7 ½ years. She enjoyed helping at the Christian School.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Bessie Henderson, husband, Bennie A. Simmons, two grandsons, one son in law, three sisters, one brother
She is survived by two daughters, Kay Nitcher and her husband Jim of Belleville, Ks, Dee Anna Currie of Inman, Ks., one son, Gary Simmons and his wife Mona of Lee’s Summit, Mo, nine grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, two sisters, Betty Brown and her husband Harold of Courtland, Ks., Peggy Crawford and her husband Charles of Topeka, Ks, one brother, Terrance Henderson and his wife Kathy of Salina, Ks, other relatives and many friends.
Cremation was chosen.
Graveside service will be Ten Thirty AM, Saturday, July 27, 2013, Balch Cemetery, rural Formoso, Ks, conducted by Pastor Robert Turner.
Inurnment at Balch Cemetery, rural Formoso, Ks.
Memorials may be given to Family Choice.
Friends may sign the register book on Friday from 1 PM to 9 PM at Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, Ks.
