Obituary of Verna E. Willis


     Verna E. Willis, daughter of Will C. Pracht and Lillie L. (Dyer) Pracht was born January 8, 1920 at Arriba, Colorado and passed away on January 28, 2012 at Republic County Hospital, Belleville, Ks at the age of 92 years and 20 days.
     She attended Belleville 1st-4th grade, Union Ridge Country School and graduated from Belleville High School in 1937.   From age 15-19 she was a Egg Candler at the Belleville and Concordia Creamery.   She was the “Candy Girl” and also Interior Decorator and Window Decorator at the Belleville Duckwalls Store and worked at Arbuthnot’s Drug Store for Sid Arbuthnot. 
     She was united in marriage to Everett E. Willis on June 27, 1945 and to this union two children were born, John and Barbara.
     She was a member of First United Methodist Church ,Belleville, KS., former member of the Belleville Country Club, she worked as a Scout Leader for Brownies and Cubs, Sewing leader for 4-H.
     She was preceded death by her parents, Will and Lillie Pracht, husband, Everett E. Willis, one brother, Delmar E. Pracht.
     She is survived by one son, John C. Willis and his wife Dee of Overbrook, Ks., one daughter, Barbara E. Willis of Salina, Ks., two grandsons, Zachary J. Willis and friend Megan of Kansas City, Ks., Nicholas G. Willis of Houston, Texas, four step grandchildren, Mahala, Charlie, Barbara Sue and Georgie Branson of Overbrook, Ks, nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
     Funeral services will be held Two PM, Thursday, February 2, 2012, First United Methodist Church, Belleville, Ks., conducted by, Pastor Lennie Maxwell.
     Interment will be made in Belleville Cemetery, Belleville, Ks.
     Memorials may be given to Family Choice.
