Obituary of Vernon L. Gebers


Vernon LeRoy Gebers, son of Otto Gebers and Willemenia (Hoops) Gebers was born December 12, 1937 at Rural Republic County Kansas and passed away on October 6, 2013 at his home at Rural Chester, Nebraska at the age of 75 years, 7 months and 24 days.
He attended 1st -3rd grade at Prairie Flower in Rep Co Ks, 4th- 8th grade at Cracker Box in Thayer Co Nebr and graduated from Byron High School in 1955. He was united in marriage to Joleen A. Kirchhoff on May 18, 1958 and to this union two daughters were born, Cindy Lou and Carla Kay.
He was employed by Richard Reinke building rafters for several years, W G Reinke Lumber Company in Byron, Nebraska. He started farming in 1958 moving to the current farm place in 1960.
He was a member of the Kansas Rural Fire Board for several years, church councils and with much prayers and study, he and Joleen became charter members of Abiding Word Lutheran Church, AFLC, Deshler, Nebraska.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Minnie Gebers, two brothers, Clarence Gebers and Marvin Gebers, one sister in law, Francis Gebers, brother in law, Willis Heitmann, three nephews, Roger Gebers, Steven Gebers, Mark Hoops.
He is survived by his wife, Joleen A. Gebers of rural Chester, Nebr, two daughters, Cindy (Kevin) Wollenberg of Byron, Nebr, Carla (Larry) Seaman of Hebron, Nebr, four grandchildren, Cassidy Seaman of Kearney, Nebr, Ashley (Jared) Bauck of Hays, Ks, Jessica Wollenberg of Belleville, Ks, Nathan Seaman of Hebron, Nebr, one great grandson, Quintyn Bauck of Hays, Ks, one sister, Delores Heitmann of Byron, Nebr, three sister in laws, Adrea Gebers of Lincoln, Nebr, Judy (Sonny) Kuhlman of Chester, Nebr, Carol (Lee) Hoops of Kindred, ND, two brother in laws, Rodney (Kathryn) Kirchhoff of Hebron, Nebr, David (Lois) Kirchhoff of Lincoln, Nebr, many nieces and nephews, numerous close friends and many coffee buddies.
Funeral services will be held Two Thirty PM, Thursday, October 10, 2013, Abiding Word Lutheran Church, Deshler, Nebraska, conducted by, Reverend George Lautner and Pastor Mark Baldwin.
Interment will be in Chester Cemetery, Chester, Nebraska
Memorials may be given to Family Choice.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 9 AM to 9 PM, Wednesday from 9 AM to 9 PM at Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, Ks where the family will receive friends from 6 PM to 8 PM.
