Obituary of Wayne J. Nielander


Wayne J. Nielander, the son of Franklin J. Nielander, Sr. and Mildred (Burosh) Nielander, was born February 20, 1942 at Harvey, Illinois and passed away on August 21, 2014 at the V.A. Hospital, Omaha, NE at the age of 72 years, 6 months, and 1 day.
Wayne grew up and attended school in the Chicago, Illinois area. He served with the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. Following his honorable discharge, he worked for the Rock Island Railroad and moved to Belleville, KS in 1975. He was a railroad switchman for several years. He later was the City Marshall for the towns of Glasco, Delphos, and Pamona, KS and also was on the Belleville Police Department reserves.
On May 13, 1979, he was united in marriage to Patricia Ross and the couple made their home in Belleville.
Wayne was a member of the American Legion, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a grandson, Ryan.
Wayne is survived by his wife Pat Nielander of Belleville, KS; 3 sons, Wray Nielander , Kiedar Sidders, and Darren (Carla) Nielander; two daughters, Tracy Nielander Streeter and Heather Burk; 6 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild; one brother, Frank (Hilda) Nielander, nieces, other relatives and friends.
Cremation was selected and graveside memorial services with military rites will be held at a later time at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, rural Formoso, KS.
Memorials are suggested to family choice.
Memorial Graveside Services will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, October 4, 2014 at the Pleasant View Cemetery, rural Formoso, KS with Pastor Mark Imel, officiating.
Military graveside rites will be conducted by the McConnell Air Force Base Honor Guard.
There will be no visitation. Friends may sign the book prior to the services at the graveside on Saturday.
